Oil and gas industry uniforms: standards, fabrics and cost

Uniforms for the oil and gas industry are business wear for engineers and staff who work in the office, meet partners and contractors, or visit project sites. The sensible approach is not one outfit for every occasion, but one colour palette with a few sets planned around situations: an ordinary workday, a day at a project site and a day hosting partners.

Who wears what

  • Engineers do technical work, team meetings and the occasional site visit. They need a long-sleeve shirt that rolls up and comfortable trousers, with polos for days with fewer visitors.
  • Managers and leaders wear a suit or ladies' jacket, optionally with a waistcoat, for meetings with partners, inspection delegations or overseas guests.
  • Administration, finance and HR wear shirts with trousers or skirts in the same palette as the engineers. Our page on corporate and office uniforms shows how several roles can be dressed within one organisation.
  • Reception staff add a scarf or tie in the same tone so visitors recognise who represents the company.

Planning by situation

The table suggests sets in one palette for each situation:

Situation Suggested set
Ordinary workday (men) Men's shirt + trousers
Ordinary workday (women) Women's shirt + trousers
Site work, lots of walking Polo + trousers
Partner meetings (men) Men's suit + shirt + trousers
Partner meetings (women) Women's jacket + shirt + trousers

With this approach, an employee does not need all three sets; each role receives only the sets that fit it, which keeps the total easier to control.

Standards worth checking

  • Colour: deep tones such as navy and grey, or the company's own shade. Avoid pattern so the uniform sits comfortably beside any partner's logo.
  • Colour and shape retention: hot outdoor conditions and frequent laundering, with no fading or pilling.
  • Comfort on the move: staff sit through a meeting, then board a vehicle for a site, so waistbands, underarms and sleeves must not bind.
  • Badge and logo: fixed and clear, so contractors and partners can see who they are talking to.

This uniform should be kept distinct from safety equipment. Helmets, boots, protective garments and any special fabric requirements follow each employer's own safety rules and should be confirmed with your safety team. If staff wear business dress under protective gear, tell us during the survey so we can design accordingly.

Suggested fabrics

Real swatches are shown to your team at the design stage, and you can browse the fabric library beforehand. Three families are typical:

  • Cotton-polyester blend: breathable, low-crease, durable in the wash; suits all-day shirts. Less soft than pure cotton.
  • Polyester-viscose with spandex: holds shape with light stretch; suits jackets, trousers and skirts. Press on medium heat.
  • Cotton piqué: absorbent and hard-wearing; suits polos for site days. Its softer structure is not for jackets.

Cost and minimum quantities

Real prices depend on fabric, style and quantity. Starting prices by category: men's business suits from 3,000,000 VND, women's business suits from 1,500,000 VND and waistcoat from 600,000 VND (minimum 5 sets for each suit category, 5 for waistcoats); men's shirt from 600,000 VND, women's shirt from 480,000 VND, trousers and skirts from 600,000 VND and accessories from 150,000 VND (minimum 20); T-shirts and polos from 150,000 VND (minimum 30). A formal proposal follows the on-site survey.

From survey to warranty

Hoàng Vy – Mon Amie was founded in 1991, runs a 1,000 m² workshop on 3/2 Street and works with more than 500 companies each year. In our six-step process we survey and consult at your premises, ending with a proposal and price range; design three options in your brand colours with real swatches; make an approved sample, since production starts only after you sign off; measure each employee at your office, including outside office hours, with measurements stored under employee IDs; produce in the workshop with quality checks at three stages (cutting, assembly, finishing) and weekly progress updates; and deliver, fit and adjust on site, with free alteration warranty for 3 years at every showroom. Allow 4–6 weeks after sample approval.

Frequently asked questions

Does this replace protective equipment?

No. It is business wear for working hours, meetings and partner visits. Protective equipment follows each employer's own safety rules; raise your requirements at the survey and we will design a uniform that works alongside it.

Which fabrics suit engineers who travel between sites?

Favour breathable, low-crease, wash-durable cloth: a cotton-polyester blend for shirts, or polyester-viscose with spandex for trousers that move comfortably. Cotton piqué polos suit site days.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the item: suits, women's jackets and waistcoats from 5 pieces; shirts, trousers, skirts and accessories from 20; T-shirts and polos from 30.

How do new hires get their uniforms?

New staff are measured individually and made to the approved sample so they match the existing team; measurements already taken are stored under employee IDs for later batches. Alterations are covered by the free 3-year warranty at every showroom.
