Waistcoats

One small layer. An entirely different standard.

A waistcoat is the quickest way to make front-line, reception and service teams look polished without a full jacket in the heat. Guests can tell at a glance who is looking after them. We tailor waistcoats in the same cloth and shade as your managers' suits.

Why Mon Amie

Waistcoats, tailored like executive clothing

Since 1991 Hoang Vy – Mon Amie has tailored for Saigon's business leaders. Your uniforms are made by the same tailors, in the same 1,000 m² atelier on 3/2 Street.

The team at the industrial machines
  1. 01

Measured one by one, never a generic size

Our mobile team measures every employee at your office, on your schedule. Measurements are filed by staff ID, so re-orders need no re-measuring.

  2. 02

    Roles readable at a glance

Managers in jackets, service staff in waistcoats of the same palette — the model we recommend for banks, hotels and showrooms, so visitors know whom to approach.

  3. 03

    Close-fitting yet free to move

An adjustable back strap and a front cut to each person — trim when standing, never restrictive when bending, pouring or reaching.

  4. 04

    Three-year alteration warranty

People change shape and roles — alterations are free for three years. New joiners are tailored into the exact design and shade the team already wears.

Who it is for

Waistcoats suit

The right line for the right role — budget goes where it makes the strongest impression.

  • Bank tellers — as composed as a jacket, far cooler through an eight-hour counter shift
  • Restaurant, bar and banqueting service staff in hotels and function venues
  • Property sales floors, car showrooms and jewellery boutiques
  • Office staff on client days — one extra layer is all the formality needed
  • Event and conference hosts and ushers who must be recognisable from across a room
  • Clinic and premium spa reception wanting something warmer than a jacket and more formal than a shirt

Four things decide the final price

  • Cloth

The single largest factor. The same jacket in a 40% wool blend and in pure Italian wool differ several times over.

  • Volume

Larger orders spread pattern-making and line set-up across more garments. This is where real savings come from — not from lowering quality.

  • Degree of tailoring

Making to a standard size chart costs less than measuring every person. For leadership and client-facing roles we always recommend measuring.

  • Finishing details

Logo embroidery, custom linings, special buttons, contrast trims — each adds a small amount that is best budgeted from the start.

Up close

The details that make a proper uniform

  1. 01

    Neckline

A V just deep enough to show the tie or bow; the edge is lightly interfaced so it never curls after repeated washing. Lapelled waistcoats use a narrow lapel scaled to the managers' jackets.

  2. 02

    Armhole & shoulder

A high armhole with no shoulder padding. With no sleeve, the armhole must sit close so the shirt beneath is not dragged into creases when reaching.

  3. 03

    Buttons

Five or six on a men's waistcoat, the last left undone by convention; three or four on a women's, set above the waist. Self-covered or metal buttons.

  4. 04

    Trims

V-neck and pocket mouths bound in brand cloth. The waistcoat is where trims work hardest: the area is small, so a bold colour stays refined yet reads across a room.

  5. 05

    Pockets

Two jetted waist pockets for a pen and notebook; service waistcoats add a chest pocket for an order pad or cloth. Pockets are tacked shut to hold their line.

  6. 06

    Logo & names

Embroidered logo at the left chest or on the satin back; name badge on the right. As the waistcoat covers the shirt, its logo replaces the shirt's — there is no need to embroider both.

Size chart or made to measure

Two ways to make it — chosen by role, not by guesswork

To a size chart

  • Restaurant, wedding and conference service teams with seasonal, rotating staff
  • Waistcoats worn over size-chart shirts, with buffer stock for shift changes and quick swaps when soiled
  • Multi-branch programmes delivered at once, with the back strap taking up the fit
  • A fast run for an opening or sales launch

Made to measure

  • Tellers and reception at a counter — a waistcoat wrong at chest or waist shows at once, with no jacket to cover it
  • Women's waistcoats, where shoulder, bust and waist rarely sit in one chart size
  • Waistcoats matched to the managers' tailored suits and cut from the same bolt
  • Staff outside the chart — very tall, very short or with a large waist

Both can be combined in one programme: office staff to a chart, managers and client-facing roles measured. On-site measuring →

Process

Six steps, no surprises

  1. 01

    Consultation & site visit

We visit your workplace to understand your brand identity, the dress code of each department, working conditions and budget. You receive a written proposal with an indicative budget.

  2. 02

    Design & cloth selection

Three design directions built around your brand colours, presented with real cloth swatches. Materials chosen for the tropics and for how hard each role works.

  3. 03

A complete sample garment, worn and reviewed by your own staff. Production begins only once you sign off the sample — no surprises at delivery.

  4. 04

    Individual measuring

Our mobile team measures every employee at your office, on your schedule. All measurements are kept on file against employee records for future orders.

  6. 06

    Delivery & 3-year warranty

Delivered, re-fitted and altered on site for anyone who needs it. Free alterations for three years, and new joiners can reorder against the approved design.

Questions

Before you ask for a quote

What is the minimum order for waistcoats?

5 pieces. The larger the order, the more pattern and set-up costs are shared across each garment — a genuine saving that never touches quality.

How long does production take?

Typically four to six weeks from sample approval, depending on volume and cloth. For launches and events with fixed dates, let us know early so we can reserve atelier time.

Do you measure at our premises?

Yes. Our mobile team measures every employee at your office on your schedule, including outside working hours. Measurements are filed by staff ID for future orders.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — a three-year free alteration warranty. If someone's size changes or a garment needs adjusting, simply send it back to the atelier.
