Uniforms for clinics and dental practices: standards and cost

A clinic or dental uniform helps doctors, receptionists and dental assistants look tidy and reassure patients that the practice is clean and well run. A good one passes three tests: fabric that survives frequent washing, a cut that does not hinder close work, and colours that make each role easy to recognise.

Who wears what in a clinic or dental practice

Each role works at a different distance from the patient, so uniforms differ:

Role Typical set Points to check
Doctors Medical coat or tunic over shirt and trousers Neat sleeves; pockets for pens and small tools
Dental assistants and nurses Tunic and trousers, V-neck or low round neck Stretch for bending, turning and moving between sitting and standing
Reception and consultants Shirt with skirt or trousers; a ladies' jacket for managers The first impression of the practice

Standards to review before approving a sample

  • Washing routine: state your practice's laundering routine before choosing fabric, since the cloth must hold colour and shape through repeated washes that follow it.
  • Colour: light shades feel clean but show marks quickly. A calm blue-green or a brand tone is restful and easy to assign by role: one tone for doctors, one for assistants, brand colour for reception.
  • Collar and sleeves: a low or V neckline stays clear of masks, protective glasses and stethoscopes; short or tidy sleeves make hand-washing easier.
  • Pockets: deep enough for pens and small items, not so heavy that the garment sags.
  • Movement: dentists and assistants bend and turn constantly, so choose a longer back panel and stretch at underarms and trouser seat.

Dress rules inside sterile areas or procedure rooms are set by the facility and its regulator; this article covers everyday uniforms. In the medical field, Mon Amie Uniform has worked with Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy, and the photo below shows one project in the group. Our page on medical and pharmaceutical uniforms has more.

Frequently asked questions

What colour should a dental clinic uniform be?

Choose a calm tone such as soft blue-green or your brand colour, and use colour to separate roles: doctors, assistants and reception each get a tone. Very light shades show marks quickly. Mon Amie presents three options in your colours so you can compare before approving.

Should dental assistants wear a coat or a V-neck tunic?

A V-neck tunic with stretch trousers usually suits people who bend and turn often. A coat suits doctors over a shirt when consulting. We include both styles in the proposal.

What if our practice has only a few staff?

Industry uniforms have a minimum of 20 and women's jackets of 5. Small practices should speak with Mon Amie so we can explain how the minimums apply during consultation.

How do new hires get their uniforms?

New staff are measured individually and made to the approved sample so they match the team; measurements already taken are stored under employee IDs for later batches. Alterations are covered by the free 3-year warranty at every showroom.
