Uniforms through a merger or rebrand: an HR guide

Uniforms through a merger or rebrand need a phased plan. An HR guide with a task table, a 4–6 week production window and Mon Amie's six-step process.

Uniforms through a merger or rebrand: an HR guide

Uniforms are among the first things customers and partners see when a company changes its name, logo or merges. A sound approach is to fix the scope first, count backwards from the announcement date (4–6 weeks after sample approval, on top of survey, design and sampling), handle the transition period separately, and re-measure every employee rather than guess sizes from the old set. This guide helps HR and administration teams plan.

Start with three questions

Before approaching a tailor, HR should be able to answer:

  • Who changes? Everyone, or one group such as stores, offices or warehouses? In a merger, will both workforces wear one set, or will each group keep some character of its own?
  • How far does the change go? Logo, badge and accessories only; a colour change; or a new silhouette as well.
  • When is the announcement? The announcement or merger date is the anchor for the whole timetable.
Level of change Typical when Watch out for
New logo, badge, accessories New brand colours are close to the old Check the new logo stands out on current fabric
New colour, same style The new palette differs sharply Needs new fabric and a fresh sample approval
Full change Merger or new brand positioning Needs redesign and re-measuring

Mon Amie advises on the right level and prices each option during the survey.

The transition period: avoid two identities clashing

While waiting for the new uniform, staff still work and meet customers. A few tidy approaches:

  • Allow the old uniform with a badge or pin in the new identity, so customers do not see two competing brands.
  • Announce measuring and delivery dates early so each employee knows where they stand.
  • Set a date to stop wearing the old uniform and agree how it is collected, per company policy.
  • Remove or cover the old logo before old garments are reused internally, to avoid wearing the wrong brand.

In a merger the two workforces often differ in build and dressing habits, so measure again. Our mobile team comes on your schedule, including outside office hours, and our on-site tailoring service suits this case well.

Choosing colour and design for the new identity

The design stage offers three options in the new brand colours, with real swatches you can handle under your office lighting. Some tips:

  • Test the new logo colour on the fabric; the same colour can pop or sink depending on cloth.
  • In a merger, keep a small nod to the old brand, such as a secondary colour or collar shape, as a bridge.
  • Keep the palette tight so combined groups do not look scattered.

Budget and aftercare

Frequently asked questions

Must every uniform be remade when the brand changes?

Not necessarily; it depends on the new colours and the current uniform. Mon Amie surveys and proposes options with a price range so you can compare.

How long from decision to wearing?

Allow 4–6 weeks after sample approval for measuring, making and delivery. Survey, design and sampling come on top; Mon Amie confirms the schedule during consultation.

How do we measure staff in several locations after a merger?

Nearby sites are measured on your schedule. For distant sites, Mon Amie can measure by appointment or guide self-measuring and make a sample; cost and timing are confirmed in consultation.

Can staff keep wearing the old uniform while we wait for the new one?

You can allow it, together with a badge or pin in the new identity so customers do not see two competing brands. Set a date to stop wearing the old uniform and agree how it is collected, per company policy, and remove or cover the old logo if old garments are reused internally.
